The Longstore is a new restaurant in Charlestown on the South coast of Cornwall near St. Austell. It is located in a prime position right on the harbour in Charlestown with ocean views from the first floor balcony. The food is focused around the finest Cornish steaks and seafood sourced locally from the land and sea. We worked with the client to create a brand that is relaxed and welcoming with strong brand colours (black, white and grey) that work well together with the restaurant interiors, which include natural textiles and leathers. This combination works brilliantly with the refurbished building, which used to be a longstore!
The logo has a graphical device that combines a simple illustration of a meat hook and fish hook together. This icon works well on its own as and we’ve used it on the lapel pin badges and as the avatars on The Longstore’s social media accounts.
Once the logo and identity were agreed we created the food menu, wine list, lapel pin badges for the staff aprons and of course we created the artwork for all the interior and exterior signage for the building.
The restaurant is owned by a trio of hospitality experts, which we’ve worked with for many years on their other venues across Cornwall including 12 Beach Road in Newquay.
“Jan and Caroline's creativity and design has been an integral part in launching our new restaurant (The Longstore) and café (Short & Strong) in Charlestown. Having hired Wetdog Creative previously for the branding of Pollocks Pub Co and for design work on our other restaurants, we knew they would deliver a modern, yet timeless branding concept that we could be proud of and that would complement our vision. The level of detail they have introduced across both new businesses has been absolutely incredible and we are immensely pleased and grateful for their collaboration on this project.”
